About John
The Story Behind the Portraits.
I’m John, an artist based here in Scotland. I work with golfers who’ve come to play the courses they’ve always dreamed of—places like the Old Course at St Andrews, Royal Dornoch, and Kingsbarns. Courses with history, beauty, and meaning.
Your time here deserves more than a photograph. That’s why I create bespoke oil portraits that capture your defining moment on the course. Each one is personal, painted by hand, and made to last.

My mission is to create timeless, handcrafted portraits that honour a golfer’s experience in Scotland—capturing the connection between the player, the course, and the moment that made it unforgettable.
Let me tell your story.
My Portraits combine my love for art and golf.
I studied fine art in Dundee and have been painting professionally for over 20 years. My work has been exhibited in galleries across the UK and is sold via eBay, my focus today is entirely on golf portraiture. I’m proud to combine my training as a painter with a deep love for the game.
Alongside my art, I’ve played dozens of courses across Scotland—from world-famous links to hidden gems known mostly to locals. That experience helps me capture not just the layout of a hole, but the feeling of standing there: the wind, the light, the history underfoot.
Let’s Capture the Moment
Honouring your once-in-a-lifetime moment on the course.
I paint for golfers who value quality, tradition, and craft. Many are making a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Scotland. Others return year after year. What they share is a deep respect for the game—and a desire to mark their experience with something that won’t fade.
The process is personal, straightforward, and built around you. We’ll start with a conversation. I’ll guide you through the steps, from selecting your reference photos to planning the composition. You’ll be involved from start to finish.
Your portrait will reflect not just how you looked on the course, but how it felt to be there.
